Shri. Dilruba alias Dilip Vasant Gosavi – Harmonium Player – an Artist in Kalyan City.
Dilruba Gosavi’s family from Kalyan city is musical…His grandfather was a Kirtan artist. His father Shri. Vasantrao Shripad Gosavi was deciple of Pt. Vinayakrao Patwardhan. Shri. Vasantrao Shripad Gosavi was ‘Sangeet Pravin’ in music. He was the Principal of Dinkar Sangeet Vidyalaya in Kalyan.
Dilruba Gosavi started learning vocal music from his father from the age of 8 years. After a few years, his voice broke. At the same time fingers were placed on the harmonium and it started to be played.
A few years after he first elementary lessons from his father. Later on he went to Pt. Manohar Chimote to study. His class was in Goregaon. He had an invaluable solo education. Especially Samvadini got to learn how to play Alapi.
He taught Samvadini Vadan for 22 years at Dinkar Sangeet Vidyalaya, Kalyan. He also taught Samvadini Vadan for 21 years at Anant Vaze Sangeet Vidyalaya, Kalyan. Many students graduated. Some of them are still at the forefront of Samvadini dissemination and promotion. Among them are Gauri Athalye, Priti Nitsure, Anirudh Gosavi, Sudhanshu Gharpure, Deepak Gharpure, Pramod Marathe, Poonam Vaze, Usha Trivedi etc. Among them, Pramod Marathe has been the principal of Pune’s Gandharva College for the past several years and has been a professional and aminent Savandini Vadak for the past four decades.
He is a Sangeet Visharad himself. In the 80’s to 90’s he also did mixed programs with some orchestras with some specific themes. He says that it is my ultimate luck that I was able to manage this art by God’s grace by maintaining the job till the end.
